Great Gourmets visits Johnnies Seafood Restaurant

Great Gourmets
visits
Johnnies Seafood Restaurant,
located in Santa Cruz, California,
at the harbor,
and tries out a few of Master Chef,
Evan Lite's delicious entrees.

We especially liked the Tempura Avocado,
whose oil provides the same benefits as Olive Oil,
being chemically identical, and thus a food that helps raise your HDL's, known to help fight off cancer.

This creative take serves up both hot and cold, soft and crunchy, sweet and sour, for a delightful balance with a cold shrimp and crab salad inserted into the pocket of the avocado, sustainable and low on the food chain seafoods that have minimal mercury.

Spicy ginger Aioli, Napa Slaw, and Pickled Cucumbers add flavor and nutrition.

The colorful ribbons of vegetables delight the eye, and provide healthful and crunchy compliments to the soft texture of the avocado.

We'd definitely order this dish again!

This was paired with a Joyce Chardonnay.

Our second dish was French inspired, with French Tarragon Butter flavoring the sundried tomatoes, scallops, baby clams, and shrimp, all good sustainable, and low on the food chain seafood offerings, low in mercury.

This dish also contains Fennel, which helps the body absorb nutrients, and sauteed Spinach.

Our third dish was a creative, housemade seafood sausage, with a whole bran mustard aioli, accompanied by a bed of soft textured, Flagoulets , increasing the vegetable protein count, and topped with a fennel and citrus salad, making a more healthful sausage as an alternative for those avoiding land mammals as food choices.

Fennel in the salad helps the body absorb food more efficiently, and we like to see it included whenever possible, as a means of maximizing our food resources.

We ordered a fresh squeezed glass of orange juice to compliment the citrus salad, Chardonnay and the sausage.

We are anticipating filming the creation of several dishes created by Chef Evan Lite, and we are happy that there are several dishes of merit, creativity, sustainability, and health promoting items offered to the public to feature.

Johnnies Seafood Restaurant boasts a great location and view, allowing the freshest seafoods, still alive with their vital forces intact, as well as a calming and scenic setting on the harbor.

Healthy and Delicious choices on the menu make this location a great choice for dining in Santa Cruz.
